Annie Sherburne

Annie Sherburne

Annie Sherburne creates original, beautiful jewellery using vintage stones and remodelling them into modern, contemporary pieces. The stones, beads and backs are largely made from real vintage components from the middle of the 20th Century and even earlier. In the 1970s, Annie and her husband met a man called Wolfie in London who had escaped from the camps in Germany during WWII. Wolfie used to buy and sell things. One day he bid on a train load of jewellery components from what was Czechoslovakia, which is known for its fine crystal and glass products.   He won the bid and WWII ammunition cases started arriving full of the most beautiful vintage beads and crystals.   Mark, the designer's late husband bought these stones and they formed the basis of a jewellery business which thrived through the 1970s and 1980s, first in a shop on the Portobello Road, and then in the famed Hyper Hyper in Kensington. Annie continues this work to this very day designing glamorous pieces in fabulous colours. No two pieces are the same so you know that you are buying something truly unique; your own little piece of history. MAVEN & I works closely with Annie helping her to sell her beautiful jewellery all over the world. Available on a made to order basis if none in stock.  If placing an order you will receive something beautiful in the same style but not an exact replica.
